2018 Albert Boxler Reserve Gewurztraminer, Alsace, France (750ml)

About the Icons
The Boxler family has been involved in wine in the small village of Niedermorschwihr, Alsace since the year 1673. Jean Boxler runs the small 13.5 hectare domaine with his wife and parents where they all live and work in the original house and winery from 1619.

Jean's grandfather, Albert, was the first to bottle the family estate wines in 1946, using the label art work created by his cousin, which still adorns all Albert Boxler wines today. All the vineyards of the estate, which are planted to Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer, Sylvaner, Muscat, Pinot Noir and Chasselas, are farmed organically, as they have been for generations. The domaine is situated at the foot of the famous Grand Cru Sommerberg hill which makes up about a quarter of their total 13.8 hectares under vine, along with select rows in the Grand Cru Brand vineyard as well as Heimbourg and Pfoeller. Boxler wines are revered for their pristine balance and purity, and their impressively long ageability. They are considered some of the best wines made in France, if not the world. And their Gewurztraminer is universally accepted as one of the varietals finest examples. We only get a case of this wine so it won't be around forever!
