2019 Duckhorn Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, California (750ml)

This 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot that was aged for 16 months in 50% new and 50% neutral French oak barrels.

Newly minted winemaker as of the 2014 vintage (and only the fourth winemaker in Duckhorn's four decade history), Renee Ary describes the wine as follows "Complex and compelling, this generous wine reflects the diversity of great Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. On the nose, vibrant layers of red and black fruit mingle with hints of violet, dried herbs, black licorice and graphite. The flavors echo the aromas, with lovely black currant and licorice elements supported by firm, impeccably balanced, tannins and an excellent structure. Good acidity helps to carry the juicy dark fruit notes through to a long, satisfying finish." Duckhorn has made wonderful Cabernet Sauvignon consistently since 1978 and this isn't just another in the long line of great wines, it stands out as one of the best they've ever made coming from the excellent 2015 vintage.
