2019 Muga Réserva Rioja, Spain (750ml)

Muga is one of the most reliable producers in Rioja, making wines that run the gamut from very traditional to thoroughly modern. Their Réserva is more in the traditional vein of red wines from the region. The blend is Tempranillo 70%, plus Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano.

Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in oak vats. Aging is for 24 months in used French and American oak casks. Prior to bottling the wine is fined with fresh egg white. Once bottled it is left to undergo a rounding process for twelve months minimum. Bodegas Muga is a family business founded by Isaac Muga and Aurora Caño in 1932, which is located in the historic Barrio de La Estación (Station Quarter) of Haro. With an area of around 25,000 square metres, it is home to both the most traditional winemaking methods and the latest cutting-edge techniques.
