2017 Giordano 'Montestefano' Barbaresco, Piemonte, Italy (750ml)
From the Rivetti brothers, Gallina is among the best Barbarescos we taste year in, year out. It is also available in limited quantities, as less than 1,000 cases are produced annually.
The vineyard is in Neive, and consists of 5 hectares planted on a south facing slope, calcareous soils dominating. It is typically aged in French oak barrique for 20-22 months, and sees another 12 months of bottle age before release. These wines are very long-lived, and reward the patient.
