This is one of the most intriguing rosés we carry - and it's one of our favorites. It hails from the island of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands, the Spanish archipelago off the northwestern coast of Africa.

Made from the Listán Negro grape, which is one of the more widely planted varietals on the islands. enticing aromas of fresh strawberries, raspberries, and delicate floral notes, inviting you to indulge in its fruity charms. The palate is treated to a burst of vibrant flavors, where ripe red berries mingle with hints of citrus zest and a touch of minerality, creating a harmonious and refreshing experience. This rosé displays a medium body, with a crisp acidity that adds liveliness and a subtle textural richness. The finish is bright and lingering, leaving a delightful impression of red fruit purity and a subtle tanginess. 

Los Bermejos is a small wine estate owned by the passionate winemaker Ignacio Valdera. And, it takes a lot of passion indeed to make wine in such an inhospitable environment that looks more like a lunar landscape than a traditional vineyard. While the temperatures are generally mild to subtropical, the growing conditions are extreme with such severe winds howling in from the Sahara Desert and the Atlantic Ocean that deep, conical shape bowls had to be dug into the ground to protect the bush trained vines from total devastation. The deep holes are also necessary so the vines can reach the water table more easily through the porous, high draining black volcanic soil which has a really low water content due to the scarcity of rain in the area. Nonetheless, Ignacio perseveres with very low yields from his organically farmed vineyards and still manages to create delicious wines.
