2014 Reinhold Haart Ohligsberg Riesling GG, Mosel, Germany (750ml)   

The Haart family has been making wine in and around the Mosel river village of Piesport since 1337. The last time we visited the estate they were restoring the oldest Roman wine press house ever discovered in the region at the base of one his vineyards just above the river. That is how long the vine has been cultivated on these steep slopes above the winding Mosel . . .

This fine Riesling comes from the Ohligsberg vineyard in the village of Wintrich. It is a very old vineyard, but had been in a state of semi-abandonment until the Haart family restored in in the 1990's. Rieslings like this are great candidates for the cellar, as they often outlive red wines by a mile.
